Terry Letman

Asheville, North Carolina native; Terry Letman grew accustomed to living a double life. His mother; Vivian, thought it was important to raise him in church, where he would become a young premiere organist/choir boy. Nevertheless, Urban R&B caught his ear and cultivated a young protégé of artists like Prince, Marvin Gaye and James Brown. Terry quickly gained notoriety and established a connection to local Appalachian music of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this afforded him to work in local studios and learn the trade of the music business. Being an intern in one of the largest studios the area landed him numerous opportunities to perform and hone his musical skillset.

Terry started his career early, shaping his first single ‘Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained’ (1988) when he was fresh out of high school. From that time, he has gone on to release 3 other full length projects for himself and countless other artists, My Solid Rock (1997), The Movement (2003) and Men in Praise (2006).  Between the first and second project, he went on tour with one of the iconic groups from his childhood; Cameo.  The second album gave him the opportunity to collaborate with 2 other artists, calling themselves The Movement, and harness the social schema of where soul music was going after the entrance of hip hop and rap. ‘The Movement’ encompassed what was becoming neo-soul and heart felt beautiful love stories. Terry became a recipient of an indie award for his reggae inspired hit, ‘Let's Get Rowdy’, and at this time the crew felt that is was a good move to do a southeastern tour.

Presently, during the COVID-19 pandemic he has chosen to release the single, ‘Stand Up’ (2020) to promote positive unity during this unsettling time in the world’s history. Terry hopes to uplift the hearts and minds of those in his community, to come out stronger and empowered to continue to fight for a better world for the next generation.

Proceeds from Stand Up sales will help to aid COVID19 relief and assistance programs.
